After midnight, heavy snow and sleet will spread across Estonia, covering the entire country by morning. Roads will become slippery, visibility will worsen, and traveling at night and during the day will be difficult throughout Estonia. Strong winds may break trees and knock down power lines.
According to the Environmental Agency, heavy precipitation is moving rapidly northward. In southeastern and eastern areas, the wind will shift to the northeast, strengthening to 15–17 m/s by morning, up to 22 m/s on the coast, and causing blizzards alongside the snow. By morning, 3–7 cm of snow and sleet is expected, with temperatures around 0°C.
During the day, snow and blizzards will concentrate in Central and Northern Estonia, where up to 8 cm of additional snow may accumulate. In Southern Estonia, a thaw will begin. Wind gusts will reach 18 m/s, up to 25 m/s on the coast, with winds turning southward in Southern Estonia and northwest on the western coast.
The Transport Department advises allocating more time for trips at night, in the morning, and during the day. In snowy areas, drivers should significantly reduce speed, maintain a greater following distance, and consider longer braking distances.
Drivers with summer tires should be especially cautious. If possible, postpone trips, but if driving is unavoidable, extreme caution is necessary, and driving style must be adjusted to suit the conditions.
